Ultimate Guide To Start A Manifestation Journal And Create Your Ideal Life

How to write your manifestation journal

This is the guide to learn how to start a manifestation journal to attract everything that you desire in your life.

Knowing how to use a manifestation journal properly is one of the many tools to find abundance in life and seeking the freedom you crave in our world.

Let’s get started.

What Is A Manifestation Journal

manifestation dream journal

A manifestation journal, as the name implies, is a journal used to manifest your dreams and desires into reality.

It helps you define what your goals are and aligns the universe to help guide you to reaching whatever you desire.

Think about it this way.

The manifestation journal is the “GPS” and the destination is the dreams and desires you want.

The problem though is that this isn’t your modern GPS on your phone where it shows you exactly how to get it.

Nope.

This is an outdated GPS with an incomplete and blurry map giving you vague coordinates about your destination. Think of it like a video game where the more time you spend heading towards your vague destination the map around you becomes clearer and so does your destination.

Real Possible Scenario With The Manifestation Journal

Let’s give you a real possible scenario that would happen with a manifestation journal.

So let’s say your goal is to make an extra $10,000 this month and you write it every day in your journal.

You don’t know how exactly you are going to do it but you have a couple ideas like:

  • Try this blogging course that you bought online for your business…
  • Finding a new job or negotiating for a bonus…
  • Going to Wal-mart and buying low and selling high on eBay…

You know all of these are possible since it has worked for people in each of those categories but you don’t know what will work for you.

So here you are working hard on your job and side hustle and saw 100 visitors on your blog (which is nearly nothing) and you were able to negotiate for a higher pay but it only amounts to an extra $500 per month.

Now at this point you may think the manifestation journal is complete woo-woo and that it doesn’t work but you still decide to stick with it and give it the benefit of the doubt.

3 more months in you see more progress but barely anything changed with your blog and job.

But one day you notice on eBay just window shopping that a bike you saw for $100 is being sold for $500 and you decide to go to Walmart and do the same thing and voila! You made $500.

Then you reinvest that and over the week you make $1,000. $2,000. $4,000. Until you finally hit $10,000 1 year later.

The manifestation journal purpose is to show you the opportunities to help you achieve your dreams.

It helps prime your brain and subconscious mind to figure out how to achieve your goals in a way that aligns with your desires.

And by the way, that story above is something that can truly happen to you if you learn to use the powers properly.

So How Does A Manifestation Journal “Prime” Your Subconscious Mind?

Let me tell you a quick story of how this thing actually works.

So here I was back in my heyday college days when my friends and I wanted to go to Yosemite for a half-marathon… (Mind you, I didn’t train for it and almost passed out but that’s for another story…)

So we needed a car for 6 people which I felt uncomfortable since I only drove in my bougie white BMW and didn’t feel ready to drive a minivan.

Well, we decided to rent a car and they didn’t have a minivan but a stick-shift pickup truck

So here I was learning everything about how big this pickup truck is, how a stick shift works, and getting real intimate for 2 hours on learning how to use the side mirrors (I was a complete newbie as a driver during this time…)

Long story short, I drove 4 hours on a pickup truck and learned to get real comfortable with it.

But this amazing thing happened afterwards.

All of a sudden when I was driving after that incident I started to notice all the pickup trucks on the highway that I never previously saw before.

What happened was that my reticular activating system (RAS) in my brain started to recognize all the pickup trucks that were being filtered out.

Now the pickup trucks were always there whether or not I recognized them, but my brain was filtering out pickup trucks because it essentially thought it was “useless.”

This applies to the manifestation journal because if you keep “priming your brain” that for your goals your brain is going to start focusing on making it a reality and will stop filtering out possible opportunities for you to reach those goals.

Now that you learned how a manifestation journal works for you this leads us to our next question…

So What Does This Mean For You Now That You Know How It Works?

Now instead of going completely blind on reaching your goals you know have a vague map in your subconscious mind that is working 24/7 even when you sleep.

When you say that you want:

  • Physically fit…
  • Make more money…
  • Find the love of your life…

Your brain is going to go on autopilot to find opportunities for you to make it a reality.

However, there’s a caveat.

The manifestation journal is only a tool to find opportunities to make your dream a reality.

Writing in your manifestation journal every day and wishing to make more money without doing any work isn’t going to make money fall out of the sky.

Sorry, but that’s not how life works… And I’m telling you this because I did nothing for 1 year expecting to get something doing nothing.

How To Write Your Manifestation Journal Every Day

Here’s how you are going to write your manifestation journal to help find you the opportunities to actualize your dreams and reality.

I am going to show you a list of the things that I personally do every day to prime my day and focus on reaching my goals.

And there’s two important things you want to know for the goals of a manifestation journal which are:

  1. Clearly defining your goals and figuring out exactly what you want and how you want to get there.
  2. Creating a plan and working towards it even if you aren’t 100% sure.

Let me know a bit of detail in each of those points.

Let’s say your goal is to make $10,000 alright?

You tried blogging but realize that you hate writing blog posts and realize that buying low at Walmart and selling is pretty fun. Even though both ways are possible to make $10,000 you rather prefer to do the latter.

Which leads us to our second point which is following a plan even if you aren’t sure its right.

Humans have this amazing ability to see what does and what doesn’t work after working on a project for a while (let’s say 6 months.)

And the even more amazing ability is that during those 6 months of doing something that didn’t work we would often find opportunities that eventually do work.

I don’t know what it is but I like to think it’s the universe guiding me towards my goals…

Just like how Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he found the lightbulb.

So let’s show you the things in what you should have in your manifestation journal.

Write Three Things You Are Grateful For

This is how I start my morning routine in my journal and you should too.

Some benefits of practicing gratitude is:

What you are doing is that you are priming your brain to be in a positive and happy state to make it easier to find more opportunities.

Trust me… It’s a lot easier to change your life when you aren’t a negative nancy all the time.

You can be grateful for major achievements in life with statements like:

  • I am grateful for my mom…
  • I am grateful for all the friends in my life…
  • I am grateful to have a job in this economy and provide for my loved ones…

Or it can be the small things in life like:

  • I am grateful for my Mac…
  • I am grateful to sleep tonight…
  • I am grateful that I woke up today…

A lot of us take these things for granted since it seems incredibly normal.

I think I’m incredibly blessed to live in America where I have food and shelter while other countries may be struggling just to find a place to sleep.

So when I write my gratitude I like to mix it up and throw in both the big and small things in life.

A cool thing I noticed was that this changes your “aura” around you where people view you slightly differently. They don’t know exactly what’s different with you but they do notice that there’s something there (aka being a more positive person.)

Create and Review your “I Am” Affirmations Every Day

These are your affirmations that you will repeat religiously once or twice a day OUT LOUD.

Ideally when you wake up and before you go to bed,

You want to ingrain these affirmations into your subconscious so that you essentially “brainwash” yourself to have all the character traits you desire.

So what I like to do is create goals of character traits that I personally want like:

  • “I am a self-disciplined person who is able to get the work done consistently every day…”
  • “I am a person who has the ability to have full concentration during deep work and when he needs to…”
  • “I am a person who is always focused on his goals and working on it consistently every day…”

These are character traits that I personally want in my life that I review every day to reinforce myself as that person.

Then I write the materialistic and goals I want such as:

  • “I have already made $10,000 as a freelance copywriter…”
  • “I have the new Apple Imac Desktop which I constantly use to bring me more money…”
  • “I have over 10,000 Twitter followers…” (i think yo ucan see I want to be rich and popular one day…)

You can see where I’m going with this.

Now it’s not going to change you instantly like what most people think is going to happen.

It’s like meditation. You don’t really notice anything until months and years of practicing it every day.

Except now we are training our subconscious mind to see opportunities to achieve the goals you desire.

And of course, the more consistent you are with trying to be your ideal self the faster it will be (although it is honestly going to feel very slow at times.)

Figure Out Your 3 Intentional Actions You Will Take Today

most important tasks journal

This is important not just from a productivity standpoint but to also be clear on your goals and desires.

Don’t fall into the same mistake I did where you think that magically putting down your goals and doing affirmations every day will get you closer to your goal…

It won’t.

I spent 1 year doing that and going about my life and nothing changed so…

That’s that.

It’s okay if you don’t know the exact goals or even your exact plan as long as there’s some sense to it.

Don’t be wishing that you are going to make $10,000 by watching Netflix for 12 hours a day.

It’s not impossible per say… but it’s pretty unlikely its going to happen.

For example, if you want to reach your goal of making an extra $10,000 per year and think blogging is how you do it then your goals might look something like:

  • Write a new blog post every week
  • Publish on social media
  • Talk with influencers in your niche.

But if you notice that after a year you still gotten barely any visitors that gives you two pieces of information:

  1. Do you enjoy blogging enough to continue to grind for a couple more years?
  2. Does blogging work for your current strategy or do you need to try something else?

You know for a fact that blogging can work since it has worked for multiple people but it hasn’t been working for you so far.

So this means you need to re-evaluate and see if you like blogging to continue it or maybe you need to change directions.

As you continue to experiment to see what works for you more opportunities are going to pop in your head and it’s up to you to figure out which one is the right path.

And over time, you are slowly going to find the right path that works for you.

Writing Your One Statement

This one statement needs to be “the one thing” that if you actually achieved it would change your life forever.

For some people it can be having the discipline of working 12 hours a day without burning out. For other people making an extra $10,000 a month would be a game changer for their family and life.

You want to make sure that your goals are aligned with the purpose of that very one statement.

These can be statements like:

  • The ability to work 12 hours a day grinding without any burnout…
  • Making $10,000 a month profit through freelancing…
  • I have the ability to sell $1,000,000 in sales for my business…

Something that would be completely game changer that you would feel extremely excited about if you achieved…

AND you want to say it out loud.

There can be no ambiguity to what you want in life, otherwise you are going to steer into a different direction than the goal you wanted in the first place.

The List Method

bullet list journal

Now the list method is what its name implies and that’s creating a list.

Now, rather than highlighting your dreams and desires this is a method I use every day to make sure that I stay focused working on my 3 intentional tasks for the day.

What’s going to happen is that when you become ambitious and want to work on your most important tasks for the day your brain wants to sabotage you and make you procrastinate…

I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about.

So let’s say your working on an important school group project that is worth half your grade. Chances are your brain is going to say something along the lines of…

“Let’s check Facebook messenger in case any of our schoolmates asked a question…”

Now it will sound very tempting since who doesn’t like to procrastinate?

But you know that if you take a break and check FB messenger that means you will go on Facebook and scroll for 30 minutes and waste your time.

So the solution is to write in your journal next to you and create a list and put:

  • Check FB Messenger

That’s it.

And once you finish your task you can briefly check FB messenger so that you don’t feel guilty about not completing the task.

Create A Happiness score of 1-10

Many people don’t reflect on their happiness for the day.

Rather, we like to focus on the mistakes and how to improve them… (which isn’t bad at all!)

But you should always reflect on your happiness for the day to see what you liked and what you didn’t like.

And what you want to do is create a scale from 1-10 with descriptions for each level so you know how to rate your day.

Tip: I do the same for my self-discipline with a score of 1-10 and see what I can do to improve myself.

Other Variations of Manifestation Journal Prompts I Tried

So here are all the manifestation journal templates I tried and felt like it wasn’t for me but there is some value to it that you can use for yourself.

Let’s get started.

Write A Manifestation List

I really liked this idea but I think it’s more of a one and done type of list that you add on once in a while.

I don’t really see the purpose in doing this daily but I do like to keep a list of all the things I want to have.

It’s very simple.

All you need to do is create a list of things that you want to have or want to do just like a bucket list.

It doesn’t have to be goals that you want to go after right away but it’s something that you want in your life eventually.

For example:

  • Learning 7 languages
  • Competing and placing in an IronMan Triathlon
  • Living Near A Beach House

And what you want to do is create a chunky list of everything you want and review it periodically to update any more things you want in life or take out things that you don’t really care about in your life.

I created a list on Google Keep (It’s free and for me…) and check it maybe every couple months just to know what my goals and dreams are to add a little motivation.

Think In Terms of 5 Years And 10 Years Ahead

A lot can happen in 5 and 10 years… and I mean complete transformations.

Now it’s going to be super fuzzy since if you’re like most people you don’t know exactly what you want.

The reason this works is because your brain can’t tell the difference when you are imagining something so let your brain think that that’s actually you.

That’s why I like to envision myself as the ideal confident person living in my ideal house with all the sensory details.

I actually practice visualization but it’s not through my journal that’s why I put it under this list.

Manifestation Journaling Question Templates

I think it’s always important to reflect on these questions from time to time but it’s something you don’t need to do daily.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • What exactly do I want? And why?
  • Why do I feel so dissatisfied in life? And what can I do about it?
  • Do I need to quit my job and find another one or do I need to change my perspective instead?
  • Is the relationships I’m in with my loved one and friends helping me? Why?
  • Am I doing enough things to make me happy?
  • Am I doing the activities that will make me feel like the best version of myself?
  • Who Am I?

And introspective thoughts just to have a clearer mind to figure what you want and who you really are.

How Did You Serve The Universe Today

I liked this idea since I truly believe in the idea of karma… or at least positive things attract more positive things and vice versa.

When you realize that you are just a tiny part in the whole universe it puts things in perspective how you helped the people around you.

I liked this idea but I’m already writing so much in my journal that I felt like putting this would be too much.

But it’s another idea for your journal.

Journaling About Your Day

I like this one as well but I only do it from time to time.

What it does is it’s a braindump to release everything that is in your head so that you can focus on what’s important.

It also gives you time to reflect on your day and feelings to see if you moved closer to your goals.

When your mind is racing everywhere it’s important to find the time to just dump everything out so that you can think clearly.

Tip: Write your thoughts like no one is going to read them. I used to write with the idea that someone is going to snoop into my journal and read all of my darkest deepest secrets so I always held back.

Well, in turns out that is not the case as my dog just chills on the couch and true friends don’t do that.

Plus, it makes the burden much lighter.

So How Do You Get Started Writing Your Manifestation Journal?

So everything sounds nice.

You get all these benefits for just the cost of a measly nice journal and workable pen and everything is looking great.

So where do you start?

Invest In A Good Journal And Pen

Now you can do it in those $0.99 journals but I’m telling you to go out and invest in a journal that looks decently nice.

Mine is a nice journal with probably fake leather (since I can’t really tell the difference) and what this does is it subconsciously tells you that this journal is more important.

We put more weight on things that we spent more money on.

You will spend more time reviewing your course that you spent $199 rather than a free email course where you put in your email even if it’s practically the same information.

It’s human nature.

That’s why you want to take advantage of it.

Just search up on Amazon and pick one that’s around $10-$15. This one is mine (non-aff) that I picked cause it looked good enough.

Create a Morning And Evening Routine Around Journaling

The only way you are going to be able to reap the benefits of journaling is doing it every day.

There’s no getting around to it.

You NEED to put in the work to see the benefits from journaling.

You can’t just not journal and expect to see journaling benefits.

That’s not how life works.

Anyways… when you are starting a habit there are two ways to make it easier so that you stick with it in the long-run which are:

  1. Make it as stupid simple as possible
  2. Stack it with other habits you already have

The first point is simple: Do something where it feels like you can easily do in under 30 seconds. So that means you want to create the habit where the minimum is to maybe write one sentence per day.

That’s it. In the beginning you will feel ambitious but that’s what usually leads to 80% of people failing after a couple weeks.

Just take it slow since this is a marathon.

After a couple weeks if you still haven’t failed add in another sentence.

And just keep the momentum going. If you fail just work even harder to write that sentence the next day since it’s going to be exponentially harder.

Think about it this way: your body doesn’t want new habits at all whatsoever so you need to work harder to create those habits.

The second point is that if you already have a morning routine of drinking coffee you can put your journal near your coffee machine to write your one sentence.

It’s that simple.

You already know you are going to drink coffee but having that journal nearby is going to make it much more likely for you to stick with that habit.

Should I Have An Online Journal Or Handwritten Journal?

I tried both…

And I found I got more benefits from having a handwritten journal.

Here were my thoughts on both of them.

With an online journal I love the idea that you can do it anywhere as long as you have a phone or mac (which I’m constantly around 24/7.)

The problem with this is that since it’s so accessible I found myself never checking on my past entries at all…

And I didn’t feel that strong of a connection when I just typed it.

When handwriting I realized that writing for a couple more seconds created a stronger connection in my brain when I rewrote the goals every day with my hand.

But that’s just me… and it could be different for you.

So I recommend handwriting your journals but I also say you should try both and see which one works for you.

I did like the interface of Day One (non-aff) if I had to pick an online journal but that’s just my opinion.

Conclusion

I know that was a lot of information to pack in but journaling to manifest what you want in life is a powerful tool to create and reach the goals you want in life.

It works differently than how most people expect it but it does work… you just need to put in the work.

There’s no woo-woo magic fairy that will wave their wand and you just suddenly have the life you want.

I even showed you all the best techniques and tips to make sure it works for you.

Let me know in the comments below which tip you found most enlightening for your dearest soul.
