Video Summary
I decided to share these 7 copywriting tips, especially for beginners whether you are being bombarded with information or just don’t know where to start. By understanding and applying these 7 tips will help give you a solid foundation because when you understand these tips and apply it you will be able to get more engagements on your blog post, more likes on your social media, and most importantly more sales if you are selling something.
Lets get started
- Use The Same Language As Your Customers
You want to use the same language as your customers when you are writing your copy. For example, a famous magazine like Cosmopolitan uses phrases like “Wow, your BF is SO HOT” or “OMG I can’t believe he cheated on her…”
While another magazine like the National Enquirer uses more clickbait titles like “Shock In The Lock: Nessie is An Eel” or “George Clooney’s Real Name… The Shocking Truth” Writing in the same language makes it easier to understand plus you can make a connection with the reader (which makes it easier to sell to them)
- Spend Most Of Your Time Writing Headline It is the very first thing that you see with Youtube Video Titles, Blog Posts, Google search results.
There’s a reason why you click on certain youtube videos and certain google links and one of the major components in the headline.
The headline resonated with you and it either solved a problem or made you curious enough to click on it.
Now to get good at writing headlines you have to write a massive amount of headlines. I’m not talking 1 or 2 but more like 20 or 30 variations. The reason why is the more you do it the better you get + the more variations you can choose + you start to become more creative. And it increases your chances to write that baller headline that actually grabs the reader’s attention.
- Sentence length matters You want your sentences to be short simple and to the point. Something a 6th grader would understand. That’s why a lot of blog posts have 3-5 sentences max for each paragraph. It breaks it up for the reader to read easily and read more of the blog post. Which means staying on the page longer which means in googles eyes, your page is relevant to them.
You also want to do the same when writing for a product. You don’t want to lose their attention. You want to keep them glued onto your paper as they read from it. Sentences to flow like a slip n slide all the way from the headline to adding the product to the cart which leads to our 4th tip.
- Have a clear call to action You never want to assume that your customers will do anything unless you tell them to. That’s why you see on Infomercials they repeat 3 times Call 1-800-xxxx Or even after a blog post… comment below on your favorite tip? Or after a youtube video… Smash that like button gently if you are enjoying the video so far
What’s going to happen is it’s not going to cross their minds or they put it off till later, forget, and then never do it. It’s because we are lazy people that don’t take the extra effort unless it’s worth it.
-
Think About The Customer Every single sentence you write you want to ask yourself “So What?” Customer do not care about you. It’s all about them. That’s why you want to make sure every sentence that you write brings value to them. Some sort of benefit. Something that would make them read the next sentence to see what other benefits it may offer to them. Or a problem to solve.
-
Use Power Words In Your Writing Power words are words that pack a punch to them. For example, Humilate or disgraced carry emotional weight. Another example is Run vs Sprint, Dashed, and Crawled The best way to move customers and get them to purchase is through their emotions (visualize the product better) And if you do it correctly they will have a bigger desire to buy from you
-
Read Copy Out Loud The Next Day
When you read it out loud you can hear where it doesn’t go smoothly compared to reading in your head. Every reader who is reading your copy reads like the way they talk. It also Points out any parts where it stops abruptly or just doesn’t sound right.
