How To Avoid Procrastination And Boost Your Productivity (Properly...)

·

I made a video on how to avoid procrastination when I struggled to even work 2 minutes a day (yeah that’s right, I was pretty bad…)

I made this video on tips I have used PERSONALLY to avoid procrastination and boost my productivity.

How to avoid procrastination

Procrastination is like a disease.

If you don’t nip it at the root of the problem, it’s always going to be causing your problems.

And the longer you delay on treating it, the worst it becomes in the future.

Hey it’s Anthony and today I’m going to be sharing you some tips I used to help me overcome procrastination at my lowest level.

So why do we procrastinate?

Even though that we know that our goals and dreams and ambitions are out there, why do we self-sabotage ourselves and procrastinate whether it be for our business, our school, our productive habits?

Well, it all boils down to one essential point: pain and pleasure.

At the very core of it, we derive more pleasure from the act of procrastinating then the act of doing the work for a vague goal we aren’t sure will come true.

If you knew 100% that if you worked every day 8 hours a day for 3 years and it guaranteed you to make $1,000,000, I bet you people would procrastinate less on their business.

Another reason we procrastinate is that we have been practicing our procrastination muscles and made them all nice and bulky.

Every time that you procrastinate you solidify that habit further into your system, so whenever you put off something or get distracted that habit becomes stronger.

And for anyone who has tried setting up a new habit, your body rather self-sabotage itself than change.

So how do we overcome this?

You most likely won’t change right away since changing your habits is pretty grueling.

But if you follow these tips, I guarantee that you will procrastinate less.

Energy levels

I bet you noticed already, but the more hungry and tired you are the more likely you are to procrastinate.

That’s why it’s essential to get a good night of sleep, eat the right foods, and not be tired.

Pay attention to your energy levels since its different for everyone. Do you feel more energetic or tired after eating fast food vs vegetables? Do you feel more tired after 9 hours of sleep compared to 7:30? What about in the morning vs evening?

Now having great energy means just means it’s easier, but you will probably still procrastinate if it’s deeply embedded into your system.

Increase the self-discipline in the other areas of your life

Honestly, I thought something was wrong with me when I couldn’t write every day yet I was exercising and meditating daily.

What I learned was that putting self discipline in other areas of your life strengthens across your entire life.

The key here is to find something challenging yet something that isn’t too hard for the current you.

So in my case that was waking up at 5 am. Just the act of waking up at 5 am and running outside feels awful at 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

But it was through this process where after days of doing this I realized I can start doing some more deep work.

And once I realized this fact, I controlled my impulses with: -Junk food -Wanting to take a 2 hour nap -16/8 fasting

Do 2 minutes of work a day if you aren’t doing any work

Now this is for the people like me at the bottom of the barrel where you did 0 work.

The problem here is that we need to develop a habit for whatever work your doing and create an identity for you-you are that type of person.

You are setting up the cues in your environment and the habits to work a lot easier.

Create Cues and rewards for your behavior

We are primitive creatures and there’s no getting around to it. That’s why you have to set up the cues and rewards in your environment to your advantage. That’s why the things I’m doing is that I have set up my office every time that I work on a block of time I schedule the time on my Google calendar, I put headphones, put the first same song, and sniff some peppermint.

And for my reward I sniff orange essential oils.
